The World Uses a Variety of Different Energy Sources

The world has a myriad of energy sources. Fossil-based fuels such as natural gas, oil, and coal–accounted to more than 80 percent of the energy consumed in 2018. Renewables such as wind power, solar energy biomass, hydroelectricity, and biomass are responsible for 14 percent. Nuclear energy accounts https://leonardogiombini.it/2021/12/18/technical-managerial-areas-in-the-civil-infrastructure/ for another 5 percent. Different countries employ various energy sources, while balancing the environmental aspects with economics.

Nature provides energy in many forms, including sunlight winds, waves oceans and more. These sources of energy transform into more efficient energy forms, such as heat or electricity, when they are harnessed. These energy sources become non-renewable sources of energy when they are exhausted.

The environment is damaged by many fossil fuels in addition to other non-renewable sources of energy. For example mining for oil could degrade the world’s forests. Hydraulic fracture (fracking) can cause earthquakes and pollute the water. The burning of coal releases carbon dioxide, contributing to global warming.

Fortunately, many of the most promising sources of energy are renewable and sustainable. Wind, solar and hydropower could create, for instance, electricity without digging up new sources.

Tidal and Wave Power are two other sustainable energy sources that are emerging. But, in order to be utilized at a large scale, these technologies must have efficient distribution networks. They need to be constructed using a source of non-renewable energy sources. In the end, these sources are not yet enough to supply the majority of our energy needs. However, it’s important to keep in mind that prices for renewable energy equipment have come down dramatically over the past couple of years, and efficiency is growing rapidly.
